How will you know if the equipment you’re buying is new or remanufactured?
In the product page, you will find the equipment’s condition right under the price. There, you will see whether it’s brand new or remanufactured.

What does remanufactured mean?
Remanufactured gym equipment refers to previously used fitness machines that have undergone an extensive restoration process to bring them back to a condition that is both mechanically and cosmetically comparable to brand new.
By choosing remanufactured equipment, you not only receive high-quality fitness machines but also contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing waste and conserving resources.
We remanufacture. Others refurbish

Remanufactured equipment
Each machine is stripped to bare metal, sanded, and repainted. Every unit receives new bearings, belts, and a new battery. Fitness Superstore is one of the very few US-based companies that offer fully remanufactured gym equipment, not just refurbished or serviced.

Refurbished equipment
The equipment undergoes selective maintenance based on its condition. This process may include touch-up painting, belt replacements, and other necessary repairs. Most, if not all of our direct competitors offer refurbished equipment only.

Cleaned and serviced equipment
Means the equipment has been thoroughly polished and checked for proper function. This process includes cleaning, inspection, lubrication, minor repairs, and adjustments. It doesn't involve extensive rebuilding or replacing components.
FAQ
Our remanufactured equipment consists of pre-owned machines, primarily sourced from commercial facilities nationwide through club trade-ins and lease returns.
The age range of our equipment spans from 3 to 20 years. Each model has a specific manufacturing period, meaning its age depends on when it was produced within that range. No matter what the age is, the end result is a product in like new condition, both mechanically and cosmetically.
View photosAbsolutely! Fitness Superstore provides a standard warranty of 1 year on parts and labor for all our remanufactured equipment. We're so confident in the durability of our products that we offer extended warranties of up to 5 years parts and labor– longer than manufacturer’s warranties of the exact same brands and machines when you purchase them brand new. This will guarantee your equipment works like a brand new machine for the duration of the warranty period.
Learn moreWe take pride in having the most rigorous remanufacturing process in the industry. Every machine is completely disassembled, sanded, and repainted to restore its appearance. Key components such as belts, bearings, and batteries are replaced on all machines. Additionally, any part showing more than 25% wear is replaced to ensure optimal performance.
We stand by our commitment to quality with a comprehensive warranty, guaranteeing that your machine will be in "like new" working condition and "close to new" cosmetic condition. Our goal is to ensure that the performance, reliability, and appearance of the remanufactured equipment are virtually indistinguishable from new machines.
80% of our machines are remanufactured in our main factory located in Benicia, CA, while the 20% are performed in our satellite warehouses in the USA.
Our 7-Stage Remanufacturing Process

Initial Inspection
Our team of expert technicians carefully inspect, test, and diagnose the fundamental parts of every machine first. This includes:
- Heart Rate Monitor (Connection, Accuracy Display)
- Display Console (Programs, Buttons, LEDs)
- Special Features (Resistance, Speed, Incline)

Noise Review
Our technicians inspect the machines for any unusual noises during operation. Any system flaws identified during this inspection are promptly repaired or the affected parts are replaced with new ones to ensure optimal performance.

Disassembly
Each machine is fully disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, and further inspected by our technicians.

Parts Replacement
Our replacement process ensures that every piece of equipment meets the highest standards of performance and reliability:
- Mechanical Parts: Any mechanical part showing more than 25% wear is replaced with a new one to maintain optimal functionality.
- Drive Belts: All units receive new drive belts, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
- Walking Belts: For treadmills, new walking belts are installed on all models except Woodways, which have a different belt system.
- Hardware Inspection: All hardware, chains, pulleys, cables, and wheels are thoroughly inspected. Any components found to be worn or damaged are replaced as needed.
- Batteries: Every unit is equipped with a new battery to guarantee reliable power and performance.

Re-assembly
After replacements are completed, the machine is meticulously reassembled according to factory specifications. It is then restored to a "like new" cosmetic condition, ensuring it looks and functions as if it were brand new.

Exterior Restoration
The exterior restoration process involves several steps to ensure the machines look as good as new:
- Machines with heavy wear are sandblasted down to the original steel, while those with light scratches are carefully sanded by hand to remove imperfections.
- Using the latest technology, machines are repainted to eliminate any imperfections and prevent future discoloration. Custom colors are available upon request to match specific preferences.
- All worn plastic, vinyl, rubber, foam, and end caps are replaced.
- Power cords are thoroughly inspected for any signs of wear and tear, and are replaced if necessary.
- Lubricants and waxes are applied to moving parts to ensure optimal function and extend the machine's longevity.

Final Inspection
In the final stage, our technicians conduct a thorough re-inspection and retest every function of the machine. This ensures that each unit meets our rigorous standards for 100% functionality, reliability, and performance.
